The story follows Prince Adam, a young man raised on Earth after being separated from his home planet of Eternia during childhood. After fifteen years away, Adam is drawn back to Eternia through the mysterious power of the Sword of Power, discovering a kingdom devastated by war and ruled by the tyrannical sorcerer Skeletor. Forced to confront both his royal lineage and the destruction surrounding his homeland, Adam must embrace his destiny as He-Man in order to challenge Skeletor’s control and restore balance to Eternia.

Nicholas Galitzine portrays Adam as a reluctant hero navigating the divide between his life on Earth and the responsibility tied to his origins. Camila Mendes appears as Teela, captain of Eternia’s royal guard and one of Adam’s closest allies, while Jared Leto plays Skeletor as a powerful and physically imposing ruler driven by domination and dark magic. Alison Brie portrays Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s sorceress ally, and Idris Elba appears as Duncan, also known as Man-At-Arms, Eternia’s military strategist and mentor figure.

Directed by Travis Knight, the film combines large-scale fantasy world-building with character-focused storytelling, balancing mythological spectacle with emotional conflict. The screenplay credits Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and David Callaham, with the story drawing from decades of franchise mythology created by Mattel. The production places strong emphasis on practical environments, elaborate costume design, and expansive visual effects to recreate Eternia’s kingdoms, creatures, and battles for a modern theatrical audience.

Principal photography took place in London during 2025, with Fabian Wagner serving as cinematographer. The film’s visual approach blends medieval fantasy imagery with science-fiction influences that have long defined the franchise’s aesthetic identity. Music for the film is composed by Daniel Pemberton, with additional collaboration from Queen guitarist Brian May.

Masters of the Universe premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on 18 May 2026 before its theatrical release in the United States through Amazon MGM Studios on 5 June 2026.
