Colony (Gun-Che 군체) — Release Date: 21 May 2026. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, starring Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Kim Shin-rok, Shin Hyun-been and Go Soo. The South Korean zombie thriller is co-written by Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok, and produced by Wow Point and Smilegate, with distribution by Showbox.

Colony is set during a biotechnology conference that descends into chaos following the outbreak of a rapidly mutating virus. The story follows biotechnology professor Kwon Se-jeong, who becomes trapped inside Dunguri Building after infected individuals begin transforming and spreading the outbreak throughout the facility. Authorities quickly quarantine the building, isolating survivors inside as the threat escalates.

As the infection spreads, the survivors are forced to navigate a confined environment where the infected continue to evolve unpredictably. Se-jeong attempts to lead those trapped inside while studying the changing behavior of the infected in order to improve their chances of survival. At the center of the crisis is biology scientist Seo Young-cheol, who is linked to the outbreak and possesses critical information related to the virus and its vaccine.

Jun Ji-hyun stars as Kwon Se-jeong, with Koo Kyo-hwan portraying Seo Young-cheol. Ji Chang-wook plays security team member Choi Hyun-seok, while Kim Shin-rok appears as his older sister Choi Hyun-hee. Shin Hyun-been portrays biotechnologist Gong Seol-hee, who investigates the crisis from outside the quarantined building, and Go Soo plays Han Gyu-seong, Se-jeong’s ex-husband who becomes trapped inside during the outbreak.

Directed by Yeon Sang-ho, known for Train to Busan and Peninsula, the film combines large-scale action with survival horror elements. The production emphasizes evolving zombie behavior, with the infected developing increasing intelligence and adaptive patterns as the outbreak progresses. Choreographer Jeon Young collaborated with multiple dancers and movement artists to create the film’s distinctive zombie movements.

Principal photography began in March 2025 and concluded in June 2025. Colony will premiere in the Midnight Screenings section of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival before its theatrical release in South Korea on 21 May 2026.
